Young Reporters Across Borders
2006-2011
Background:
In May 2006, a group of 15 dedicated teenagers met in the city of Hebron, in the West Bank to create an official group for young people who are involved, or interested in becoming involved, in the media. Their main goal was to set purposeful and clear methods for youth within the media, and to encourage the establishment of new activists in Hebron. These budding enthusiasts could then congregate to raise their problems with the city, reflect their issues, and defend and advocate for their rights.
The group called this new union the "Young Journalists Team." Which later became "Young Reporters Across Borders."
By 2007, Young Reporters Across Borders had become very influential in helping young journalists. The group held training sessions in journalism and issues involving the media. It also assisted the young writers in publishing their reports and articles in local newspapers, in a page that the group edited and managed personally.
Young Reporters Across Borders wants to create a safe and suitable space for young people to speak up about their opinions on social and political issues. This is because YRAB believes that the youth have a right to share their opinions, and have them heard by the world.

YRAB's Mission:
YRAB’s mission is to empower the younger generations with tools that may enable them to speak out about and advocate their issues, and share their opinions with the public. By doing this YRAB hopes to create a strong body of young journalists’ that represent this generation of reporters.
It believes that journalism can be a link through which youths from different cultures and nations can connect together, and work towards common goals.
YRAB works to enable teenagers to have the opportunity to use media to:
1. Share their issues and opinions.
2. Become connected to global issues and the global youth work.
