In December 2010, the United States mission to the UN Security Council chose 12 videos from 1,000 applicants from a competition asking young people to submit a one-minute video reflecting the challenges of the next generation and the issue to which the UN Security Council should give more attention. Mahmoud’s Video was one of the twelve videos, which were shown at a special session for youth in the UN Security Council with the attendance of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the US Ambassador to the UN Suzan Rice and other Ambassadors. Youths had the chance to have their voice heard at a special place like the UN Security Council and Mahmoud was proud that he could reflect not only a message from the Palestinian Territories but a message that expressed the common goals of youths from all over the world. |

To be inspired by a person of your age from the other side of a conflict you live in is an incredible achievement that takes considerable personal exploration. The film “Inspired” reflects a true story of young people from two sides of a conflict, who were inspired by each other, and whose inspiration has led them to believe in each other, trust each other and understand each other. |
